What We Are and What We Aren't
The Neighborhood Clinic provides free medical urgent care to patients who cannot afford or access healthcare.
We focus on episodic illness. While we do provide an initial visit for those with chronic or long term needs, along with diagnostics and medications, we then refer these patients to Pierce County Project Access or RotaCare Clinic Tacoma, both free to the patient, or to a community clinic (usually CHC or SEA MAR) where they may be seen on a sliding fee scale.
In order to best serve patients with limited access to health care, we have some limits on what we provide:
- We do not provide care for patients with health insurance or medical coupons.
- We are not a pharmacy. We provide medications for those patients seen by our providers on clinic nights.
- We do not provide wellness exams or sports physicals.
- We do not fill out forms for Disability/SSI etc.
- We do not prescribe narcotics (Vicodin, Percocet, etc) for pain.
